Help families with sick and injured kids stay close

Tonight, 31 families with sick or injured kids are staying at Ronald McDonald House Sydney.

Every room is full.

For families like Maeve's, staying close means they can be together while their child receives life-saving treatment.

From 12pm Wednesday 12 August, for 48 HOURS, all donations will be DOUBLED.*

Thanks to our generous Dollar Matching Partners, every dollar you give will be matched, helping twice as many families find comfort, care and a place to stay close to hospital.

A gift of $190, enough to provide one night of accommodation for a family, will become two nights of support.

What the House means to families like Maeve's

At Ronald McDonald House Sydney,  we meet many families whose lives change in a single moment. Maeve’s family is one of them. For months, her parents, Ashleigh and Blake, sensed something wasn’t right.

Maeve’s bloating, blood in her stool, loss of appetite, pale skin, and exhaustion were repeatedly attributed to minor concerns, but Ashleigh’s instincts told her otherwise. When Maeve’s skin turned grey and she curled up in a ball at daycare, Ashleigh pushed for further help.

A paediatrician felt a mass on Maeve’s side, and an urgent ultrasound confirmed every parent’s worst fear: a tumour on her left kidney.

Their reaction was “complete shock and disbelief … hearing the words and realising something so serious was wrong felt surreal.” Maeve began eight rounds of intensive chemotherapy in Sydney, and in those overwhelming early days, social workers referred the family to Ronald McDonald House Sydney.

Here, they found comfort, compassion, and a community that understood. “From the moment we arrived, we were met with kindness, understanding, and genuine care…” Volunteers cooked meals, folded laundry, and offered small acts of kindness that eased heavy days.

With the future uncertain, the House remains their anchor. As Ashleigh shares: “Because of your support, families can stay close to their sick children… every bit of support… is truly life-changing.”

Your gift provides more than a place to sleep for families

On average, it costs $190 per night to support each family staying at Ronald McDonald House Sydney.

For the families staying at the House, their entire stay is at no cost to help relieve some of the pressures of being away from home.

At Ronald McDonald House Sydney, a night means more than just a roof over a family’s head.

A night for our families means:

💛 Warm and supportive accommodation, so families can focus on their sick child.
💛 A network of support through other families, staff, and volunteers.
💛 A quick 5-minute walk away to the hospital.
💛 A kitchen full of food, with home cooked meals by our chef three times a week.
💛 In-house after school activities and holiday programs for all children staying with us.

We need your help, now more than ever, to ensure that support continues.

Thank you to our Matched Giving Partners for making this possible
