I'm swimming for Sick Kids!

In 2025, my dear friend was hit with the hardest news no parent ever wants to hear. Her beautiful little girl, Tori, was diagnosed with cancer. 💔

In that moment, their whole world was turned upside down.

They had to leave their home and move more than five hours away to Westmead, where Ronald McDonald House became their home away from home.

During their initial stay, they spent 314 nights there, never knowing what each new day would bring. Since then, they have returned for another four nights, bringing their total to 318 nights at Ronald McDonald House. ❤️

Having Ronald McDonald House there meant Tori’s mum, dad, twin sister and even her grandparents could stay close by and be together throughout her treatment.

It gave them a place to sleep, eat, rest and have some sense of normality during a time when nothing felt normal.

And their journey isn’t over. At a minimum, they will need a room at Ronald McDonald House for around a week every three months as Tori continues her treatment.

That’s 318 nights and counting.

To most people, a room might just be a room. But to Tori and her family, it has been a home, a safe place and somewhere they can be together when they need each other most.

This is why Ronald McDonald House Charities means so much to me. Because families like Tori’s need somewhere to call home while they focus on what matters most — their child. ❤️
