I'm swimming for Sick Kids!

I'm taking part in Swim for Sick Kids this November to support seriously ill and injured children and their families.

After my mountain biking accident in March this year my family became all too aware of the importance of facilities like Ronald McDonald House. In hospital I met and saw many other kids and families who couldn’t have got by with any level of comfort without these supporting services. 

I was lucky, somehow miraculously my leg was saved, and all my other injuries have healed. I can walk again and I can swim now too, many people helped to make this happen but I couldn’t have done it without my Mum having facilities like the Ronald McDonald room where she could warm up nutritious foods, cut fruit, wash clothes, have a hot shower and make a cup of tea. 

I still remember going outside in a wheelchair, for the first time in 10 days, and seeing sunshine and plants and feeling fresh air - the Ronald McDonald fairy garden gave me hope and a smile again,  it made my Mum cry with gratitude that such a special place was available to us.

For sick kids staying at Ronald McDonald House, they just want their families close as they battle childhood diseases, illnesses and injuries.

On average, it costs $190 to support a sick child and their family for one night at the House. The families stay for FREE so they can focus on what is most important, their sick child.

Please support me and help keep families together as they face the most difficult journey of their lives. As I know well, we never think it will be ourselves or our loved ones who need these services… until we do. 

Thank you, I truly appreciate any level of support you can offer and will do my best to reach the target of 10kms, although it is not going to be easy with my limited medical clearance. Updates to come!
