Our Thathie - Dudley Harold Perera Gunasena, believed in looking after the people he loved through quiet acts of kindness. During his illness, our family experienced just how important it is to have loved ones close in life's hardest moments. In his memory, we're raising funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, which provides a free home away from home just steps from the hospital for families of seriously ill children, along with Family Rooms in hospitals and learning programs that help children and siblings continue their education during treatment. Their support keeps families together when they need each other most. Dudley was how I affectionately called him though he was my uncle . He was jovial and created a happy vibe wherever he was. Always with a wide grin. He has shown very proudly plants he has grown to prove his green thumb and shared cuttings generously. Since Covid we didn’t get to see him because of dear Amitha has been protecting him from diseases by not attending any outside events which now we understand. So glad we got to know him closely after we migrated to Sydney.

Dudley will be rejoicing from wherever he is to know that and also for the opportunity to contribute towards these precious children's lives. He worked as a Radiographer( Therapy) in Sri-Lanka, England, and in Australia, at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for over fifty years. He fulfilled his duties Religiously and with much love. Dudley had Prostrate Cancer and he received excellent care, medically and psychologically from Dr Joe Wang of Carlingford Medical Centre, Professor George Ruby and Professor Adrian Lee of Genesis Care. Dudley had worked with Professor Ruby for twenty five years At R.P.A and his advanced knowledge in Cancer, treatment, management, and above all his great humanity helped Dudley to have a comfortable, pain free life for twenty six long years. He donated his body for Cancer Research to Sydney Research, and Professor Ruby has very kindly and thoughtfully given permission to have access to his Medical Records. I pray that the information I have provided will be of benefit to cancer patients. I will be praying with Dudley, my husband ,from wherever, he is, a speedy recovery. I am sending my Buddhist blessings too to the precious children. Thunsaranai.!
